At times, the wheels of your vehicle may be the last thing on your mind when you get into your car. First, you want it to start. Then, you make sure you have enough fuel to get to your destination, whether it be work or school, or heading out on a road trip. Once you're headed down the road, the activities that will take place once you arrive at your destination probably take over your thoughts. However, it is critical that you add tire service to the list of things to check before pulling out of your driveway.

There are three main problems that will require professional tire service:

1. Under/Over Inflation. Some of the things that can be affected by the inflation pressure of tires are comfortable driving, the life of the tire, and braking and traction. Under inflation could cause overheating of the rubber, less resistance to rolling, premature wear and tear of the tread, plus damage to the wheel. Over inflation results in the same kind of problems, reducing the life of your tires.

2. Frequent driving at high speeds. Damage is caused by excessive heat can build up from the friction of the rubber against the road. Check with your tire repair specialist to make sure you are driving on the right kind of tires for your type of driving.

3. Overloading. A tire overloaded beyond their maximum load capacity can also create a lot of heat from the road. Therefore, your tires are going to break down a lot quicker than they normally would. It is very important to read the manufacturer's recommendations on loading. You should not exceed the maximum amount of axle load rating for any of your axles on your vehicle.

Remember: Check with your tire service shop to make sure you have the right tires for your driving conditions so you are driving as safely as possible!
